Scientific Research Club

Do you want to be a marine scientist, veterinarian, doctor, engineer, meteorologist, or other type of scientist?

In Scientific Research Club we will explore the scientific method and complete hands-on science experiments. Typically, the Science and Engineering Fair is only open to 7th-grade students, but now all grade levels will have the opportunity to complete a Science and Engineering Fair project! In the fall, we will focus on designing and executing our experiments, and in the spring, we will collaborate with scientists in our community, including marine educators from the Tybee Marine Center, medical professionals, veterinary professionals, and more! Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, August 28th until 3:45. See you there!

Science Olympiad

Attention Seahawk Scientists!!!

This year, Ms. Love and Mrs. Deleon will be sponsoring the Science Olympiad Team. Science Olympiad is a competitive club where students meet weekly to explore different science phenomena and prepare for events at the Spring Regional competition, with opportunities to advance to State and Nationals. This is a fun, hands-on way to engage with science and is a great opportunity to build your portfolio for high school choice programs.

Georgia Technology Student Association

TSA chapters take the study of STEM beyond the classroom and give students the chance to pursue academic challenges among friends with similar goals and interests. Together, TSA chapter members work on competitive events, learn and apply leadership skills, and may attend field trips and/or conferences at the state, regional, and national levels. Please see Mrs. Axelsson's for more information.

Family, Careers, and Community Leaders of America

Family, Careers, and Community Leaders of America, also known as FCCLA, is a national student organization that functions as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum in Georgia Schools. FCCLA encourages personal growth, prepares students for careers, fosters family and community involvement, and helps students become leaders! Students are encouraged to participate and compete in FCCLA programs throughout the year.  FCCLA members must be enrolled or previously enrolled in FACS (Family and Consumer Science) class to compete and/or participate in FCCLA conferences.  Want to learn more about FCCLA? Please  email laura.beecher@sccpss.com.

DEEP Writing

Do you have a story to tell? Are you interested in creative writing? Thinking of being a published author one day? Please consider joining the Deep Writing Project! This is a phenomenal opportunity to explore our lives and the human spirit through writing.  We'll meet every Thursday afternoon beginning in September until 4:30 in room 41. There are limited seats, so the roster will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you miss out on this semester, we will start over in January.

Middle School E-Sports

CMS is proud to announce that we are hosting an e-sports club this year! If your child loves video games, this is a perfect opportunity. E-sports programs engage students and prepare them for careers in STEM-related fields or other e-sports-related jobs. Students who participate in e-sports also develop soft skills, such as teamwork, good sportsmanship, strategic thinking, and leadership. Over 16 million e-sports scholarships are given out each year by more than 200 colleges and universities (nacesports.com).

Students that join the Seahawk E-sports club will compete in the Fall 2023 competitive season through the North America Scholastic E-sports Federation. Please have students stop by Mr. Prince’s room (Room 39) to fill out an interest form, or complete from this link. Contact Mr. Prince directly at noah.prince@sccpss.com with questions. Registration begins this week. Game on!
