At CMS, we believe in high expectations, strong relationships, and unlimited potential. Together, we will reach new academic, social, and personal heights. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where every student can prosper.

Middle School Shouldn’t Just Be Survived. It Should Be Where Students Thrive.
Coastal Middle School is a public school serving students in grades 6–8 in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. We believe the middle school years are not simply a transition to high school. They are a defining time when students discover their strengths, build confidence, develop independence, and find their place in a community.

Our Story
Since becoming a dedicated middle school in 1997, Coastal has grown and evolved alongside the students and families it serves. While programs and practices have changed, our purpose has remained constant: to create a school that understands young adolescents and helps them thrive.
That purpose is reflected in two commitments that are central to who we are.
Soaring to Success speaks to growth, possibility, and helping every student recognize what they are capable of achieving. Seahawk Strong speaks to the relationships, resilience, responsibility, and pride that hold our community together.
Together, they reflect the Coastal experience. Students are challenged to grow, supported when they need help, and connected to a community that believes in them.
At Coastal, students have opportunities to pursue advanced coursework, earn high school credit, explore the arts, participate in athletics, join academic teams, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and discover new interests through clubs and hands-on learning. Advisement, intervention, mentoring, and small-group support help students build the skills and confidence they need for success in middle school and beyond.
