Counseling
Welcome to the Coastal Middle School Counseling Department
The Coastal Middle School Counseling Department is committed to supporting the academic, social, emotional, and career development of every student. Our team consists of three school counselors, with one counselor assigned to each grade level, allowing us to build meaningful relationships with students and families throughout the school year.
Our counselors work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and staff to help students navigate the middle school years with confidence and success. We provide a comprehensive school counseling program through individual counseling, small group counseling, classroom counseling lessons, and schoolwide initiatives that promote student well-being and achievement.
Whether students need support with academics, friendships, emotional wellness, goal setting, or planning for future educational and career opportunities, our counseling team is here to help every student learn, grow, and thrive.
Mrs. Louden earned her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2014 from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She has a background in the mental health field and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Her favorite part of being a school counselor is watching students grow and being part of the community. She loves spending time with her family, being outside, and reading. She currently serves students in 6th grade.

Dr. Baker earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Mercer University. She is a Youth Mental Health First Instructor and a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor with over 30 years of educational leadership experience. Dr. Baker specializes in social advocacy, group mediation, crisis counseling, and college and career readiness. A strong believer in the ‘power of one”, Dr. Baker is passionate about empowering youth to empower themselves. This mantra guides her as she strives daily to help students and their families navigate barriers, which may impede learning.
In addition to counseling, Dr. Baker enjoys sitting by an open window with a good book and a cup of cinnamon tea. Her other hobbies and interests are writing short stories, nature photography, and directing youth theatre. She currently serves students in 7th grade.
Mrs. Fell received her Masters in School Counseling from Georgia Southern University in 2013 and her Education Specialist in School Counseling from Valdosta State University in 2018. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). This is a second career for her and credits her own middle school experience as her motivation to work in the counseling field and specifically with pre-teens. Mrs. Fell is married and has one son. When not in school, she enjoys being with her extended family and spending time outside. She currently serves with students in 8th grade.

Your School Social Worker
I am Jessy McMullan and I am going into my 8th year as a School Social Worker with SCCPSS. School social workers help remove barriers so students can learn, grow, and thrive. I work with students, families, and school staff to provide support, resources, and solutions: because every student deserves to succeed. I love teaching students skills to help them calm their body and mind. We learn and make the best decisions when our minds and bodies are calm.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love being in nature, reading and traveling. I try to start my day with a 5-minute meditation or mindfulness practice to center myself and set my intention for the day. I look forward to working with you!
